Stop Visualizing Japanese As This Insurmountable Obstacle
Studying Japanese isn’t easy. The never ending challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, and you start to visualize Japanese “fluency” as some extremely distant dream that you doubt you will ever achieve, but don’t want to give up on just yet.
Do you have this image in your mind that Japanese is impossible and looks and feels like this?
Get this out of your head. As soon as you can.
The way we think of our studying, progress, goals, and possibilities makes a big difference on the outcome. I’m sure you’ve heard that if you keep telling yourself that you can’t do something, or it’s impossible, the result will be just that.
This resonates true with the Japanese language. Regardless of a Japanese study slump, or plateau, or frustration, keeping yourself positive may be one of the most powerful studying tools you have.
How have you kept yourself positive and avoided negative imagery?

It always help to refocus on doable goals. Doing small things is good enough. They make good habits and from there all is possible.
Yes, it’s important to make things less intimidating and small achievable goals are a great way to do that.
Very true. Positive thinking a great tool for achieving your goals. By the way, love the AVGN reference! :D
I’m glad someone picked up on that!
