For those of you who are thinking about living in Japan to improve your Japanese, this may provide a window into what kind of lifestyle you will have to get used to. I lived at this アパート in 佐倉市, 千葉 for about a year and a half.

It was actually a very comfortable apartment.  Advice:  avoid the apartment chain “Leo Palace”.  Worst hell imaginable.

  1. Do you happen to know anything about owning dogs in Japan? I will be moving to Japan and I am not the kind of person who can just leave there pets behind. I have a medium sized dog (lab mix). Will I be able to find apartments that will allow him?

    • There are definitely apartments that will allow dogs. Similar to your home country probably, it will make the apartment search slightly harder. But there are plenty of dog owners in Japan.
