Reminding Yourself How Important Learning Japanese Is To You — 7 Comments

    • I hope it works for you as it has for me, and I’d be interested to hear if you think it has helped after giving it a go for a couple weeks.

  1. I definitely have felt this. Just by merely telling yourself something, you often convince yourself of it, and it can change your actions.

    • Yes. It can also change your attitude about doing the actions (or in this case, the reviews) because the more important you think something is, the easier it often is to do and the happier you will do it.

  2. I’ve read this book as well and was fascinated by it. In doing the memory exercise along with him you can see for yourself it truly works. Did you feel like the long isolation time required for the author to build the incredibly detailed memory palaces sounded a little depressing?

I can certainly see a connection between the technique in this book, SRS and mnemonics used for RTK.

  3. There’s definitely a connection that could be made there! Like with RTK, too, the ability to use the stories that other people made saves a lot of (potentially depressing) time. I know I wish that I had Ed Cooke’s card matrix back when reading the book (and which he has since shared in The Four Hour Chef and online at Tim Ferriss’s website).
